The Stollery Children’s Hospital Emergency Department provides multidisciplinary, family centered, trauma informed care to children, youth and families/caregivers for those currently experiencing a mental health crisis/emergency. The mental health team, along with the Pediatric Emergency Medicine team, provide assessment and management of the patient’s emergency, support community safety planning, discharge teaching and initiate community referrals as appropriate. Child Psychiatry may be consulted as appropriate for assessment and/or determination of psychiatric admission.

Referral Pathway
Patients may present to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Emergency Department by self referral or on the recommendation of a healthcare provider or other professional. Patients are triaged upon arrival.
